ABOUT US:

With 17 faculty members whose research interests span ancient philology, history, material culture, philosophy, and reception studies, we offer a broad-ranging curriculum in the heart of New York City as well as extensive teaching opportunities. Our students are supported in innovative, boundary-pushing work, including public-facing scholarship and digital humanities.

For the PhD, we offer five-year Graduate Center Fellowships (about $35,000/year) as well as five-year Tuition Fellowships (tuition remission) for working professionals. Student health insurance is included.

For the MA, we offer low in-state rates for New York residents as well as one MA Fellowship ($4,000 over two years).  There are also competitive fellowships for summer research and dissertation completion, as well as health insurance eligibility for all students teaching at least one CUNY class.
